Solaris 10 for x86
by pittayaJust got a new machine for development. It is Sun Fire V20Z.
This one is powered by AMD Opteron and running Solaris 10 for x86.
It’s a modified version of GNOME desktop called JDS (Java Desktop System).
For me, as a linux user, this system feels a lot more comfortable than the old-ugly CDE (are there anybody using it ?)
Moreover, Perl 5.8 and Java 1.5 are pre-instealled by default. And installing python 2.2 is relatively easy using Sun provided package.
It is a pretty nice development platform except one thing, sound from its power supply is damn loud !
